About This Role
We are looking for a full-time founding engineer to help build an agentic AI platform that empowers local governments and businesses. In this role, you will directly shape our conversational AI platform, driving impact for U.S. local governments through geospatial and intelligent AI solutions. You'll work closely with the co-founders, gain technical mentorship & guidance, and have the opportunity to grow alongside the company as we scale.

- As a founding engineer, you'll work on impactful projects that span every layer of the stack.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain multi-tenant architecture (tenant isolation, configuration, data separation).
- Build CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and deployment automation (AWS/Docker).
- Develop "AI Studio"—a self-service portal for tenant onboarding, user management, and RAG configuration.
- Implement tenant-level monitoring, observability, and alerting.
- Build testing infrastructure (integration tests, load testing, regression suites).
- Triage and debug production issues; deliver incremental fixes for tenant-specific problems.
- Generalize our RAG platform to support domains beyond zoning intelligence.
In this role, you must have
- Bachelor's degree in CS/CE (or equivalent experience).
- 2–3 years of software engineering experience.
- Experience building or maintaining multi-tenant SaaS systems.
- Strong DevOps fundamentals (Docker, CI/CD, AWS EC2/RDS/S3).
- Solid debugging skills and a production-first mindset.
- Delivered production features with maintainable, well-structured code. Takes ownership for long-term stability beyond just "getting it to work."
- Experience with agentic IDE like Windsurf, Cursor, Claude Code.
You might thrive in this role if you have
- Strong Python experience, especially with FastAPI.
- Familiarity with geospatial indexing and queries (PostGIS). Will build agentic systems that convert natural language to spatial queries.
- Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLite, and basic vector DB concepts.
- Familiarity with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, CloudWatch).
- Exposure to LLM/RAG applications (not building them, but deploying/scaling them).
- Experience with GitOps and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible).

AI Studio is a self-service portal we want to build for tenants to configure, customize, and monitor their AI applications. This will be a key project for this role.

- Tenant Onboarding – Guided setup wizard, API key management, environment provisioning
- User Management – Multi-user workspace, role-based access, audit logs
- RAG Configuration – Document upload, prompt editor, retrieval settings, test playground
- Analytics Dashboard – Query volume, latency, token usage, engagement metrics
- Monitoring & Alerts – Health checks, error thresholds, webhook integrations
